Holiday Closing/Sanitation Schedule
Town Offices will be closed Monday, February 16, 2009 in observance of President’s Day. Residential garbage will not be collected on that day. Monday’s route will be collected on Wednesday, February 18.

Annual fall leaf collection
The Town of South Hill will begin the annual fall leaf collection schedule on Monday, October 27, 2008. Collection will occur once per week every other week until Friday, January 30, 2009. Leaves and pine needles may be raked in piles to the curb line or ditch line. Please make sure brush piles are kept separate from leaf piles. The collection calendar is as follows:

If you make a submission, post content or change user information, there may be a delay in its being posted for one of several reasons:
1) The feature you use may require moderator review and approval. If so, be patient and it will be reviewed in a few days and if acceptable, posted. Generally, our software will notify you if this is the case.

Understanding the difference between our "News" feature and "User Posted News. User Posted news is intended to be an organized community "blog" which enables all registered users to submit and self approve for posting news and announcements on a variety of topics relevant to daily life in South Hill. That feature is unmoderated, thus registered users have the flexible ability to post news and announcements relative to the topic. The South Central Master Gardeners will be having a Spring Plant Sale on Saturday, May 3 from 10 AM to 2 PM between Aaron’s Sales and Lease and the Medicine Shoppe. They plan to have annuals, perennials, shrubs and houseplants. A Master Gardener will be present to answer your questions.
An artists' reception and juried art show and sale will take place on Friday, May 9 from 7 PM to 9 PM at the R. T. Arnold Library. The art exhibit will be available for viewing at the library during the SpringFest event as well.

At the South Hill Town Council meeting on may 14, 2007, on behalf of the Town Council, Mayor Horne presented the Cook family with a plaque containing a Resolution of Thanks and Appreciation for Councilman Cook’s 17 years of service on the Town Council. Councilman Cook served on many different committees of the Council, and currently was the Chairman of both the Cemetery and Fire Department Committees, and served on the Personnel and Street Committees as well. He also served as an elected official on the Southside Planning District Commission since 1993.
